NHTSA 5 Star Frontal Crash Test Rating
When it comes time to buy a full-size vehicle for your family, it's important to know that Expedition and the extended-length Expedition EL have received the highest 5-star frontal crash test rating* for the driver and right front passenger from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for nine years straight.
*Star ratings are part of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safercar.gov program (
www.safercar.gov).

AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control
Expedition comes equipped with standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®). It's the only stability control system with gyroscopic sensors measuring both vehicle yaw and roll motion. Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object and RSC® will selectively apply brake pressure and adjust engine power to help keep you under control.*
*Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It's always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.

Airbag Coverage
Expedition provides comprehensive passive safety protection. Included as standard equipment are front seat airbags, side-impact airbags, plus the Safety Canopy® System with its large 2nd-generation side curtain airbags that enhance protection for outboard occupants in all three rows. In the event of an accident, Expedition helps protect you and your entire family.

Rear View Camera Option
Get a clear picture of what's behind you with the Rear View Camera option. Put the vehicle's gear selector in Reverse and the system automatically transmits the image to your rearview mirror. If your Expedition is equipped with the available Navigation System, the image is shown on the navigation screen. The Rear View Camera is available on Eddie Bauer in the optional Eddie Bauer Convenience Package and standard on Limited and King Ranch.

Ford SYNC
The voice-activated Ford SYNC® Communications and Entertainment System* is a state-of-the-art, voice-activated system that fully integrates many Bluetooth®-enabled mobile phones and digital media players. What can SYNC do? Here's a sampling: Connects a Bluetooth-enabled phone. Allows you to control the entire library of your connected MP3 player by voice. Offers hands-free control of your cell phone. SYNC is optional on Expedition XLT and standard on Eddie Bauer, Limited and King Ranch. Want to know more? Go to syncmyride.com.
*Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use mobile phones and other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so. The Bluetooth word mark and logos are trademarks of the Bluetooth SIG, Inc.

Voice Activated Navigation System
The optional voice-activated Navigation System provides many navigational features including detailed freeway exit, turn and ramp transition lane guidance; street name announcement; current location display. Also part of the system is a 10GB hard drive for storing photos, ripping CDs, and managing music with the Jukebox function. And there's the greater wealth of travel information the SIRIUS® Travel Link™ service* provides, such as real-time travel and weather conditions plus lowest fuel prices. The system also comes with a single-disc CD player and seven speakers including a subwoofer.
*Real-time traffic monitoring available in select markets. Some features are unavailable while driving. Service not available in Alaska or Hawaii. See your dealer for details. SIRIUS and Travel Link are registered trademarks of SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Inc.

Rain Sensing Wipers
Rain-sensing wipers can detect rain, snow or road spray hitting your windshield, and automatically run at just the right speed. You don't have to take your hands off the wheel or other controls to adjust your wipers as road conditions change. The system does this for you. And you can set its sensitivity to suit your needs. It's available on Eddie Bauer with the available Eddie Bauer Convenience Package and is standard equipment on Expedition Limited and King Ranch.

Reverse Sensing System
The Reverse Sensing System uses an audible signal to alert you to an obstacle up to 16 ft. from the rear when slowly backing up. It's available on Expedition XLT in the optional XLT Convenience Package, and is standard equipment on Expedition Eddie Bauer, Limited and King Ranch.

Flex Fuel 5.4L Triton V8
The engine that powers the 2009 Ford Expedition is the same 5.4L Triton® V8 as before, but is now equipped with standard Flex Fuel capability. The 5.4L Flex Fuel can run on unleaded gasoline, E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) or any mix of the two. So you can fill up wherever you are, even if E85 isn't readily available.

Comfortable Seating for up to Eight
The only feature that matches the generous cargo space provided in an Expedition is the outstanding seating comfort you'll experience in this full-size Ford SUV. Choose the popular XLT model with standard seating for five or up to eight with optional 3-passenger 3rd-row bench (manual or PowerFold™). If your taste is for luxury-level accommodations, you'll find everything you're looking for in an 8- or available 7-passenger Expedition Eddie Bauer, Limited or high-end King Ranch model. All three come with a host of amenities including leather-trimmed 1st- and 2nd-row seats and PowerFold™ 3rd-row seat. When it comes to comfort, you should never have to take a back seat to anyone.

Power Fold Third Row Seat
Expedition's PowerFold™ 3rd-row seat folds flat and makes room for extra cargo at the simple touch of a button. It's optional in XLT; standard in Eddie Bauer, Limited, and King Ranch.

2nd Row Center Slide Feature
Standard 2nd-row seating in every Expedition is a 40/20/40 split bench seat with CenterSlide™ feature. The center section can slide forward nearly 11 inches to make it easier to access a small child from the front seats.

Heated / Cooled Seats
Expedition offers amenities galore, including climate-controlled 1st- and 2nd-row seats. Heated/cooled 1st-row seats and heated 2nd-row seats are standard in the luxurious Limited and top-of-the-line King Ranch® models. Heated/cooled front seats are optional in Expedition Eddie Bauer®.

Triton V8 Power
The 5.4L Triton® Flex-Fuel V8 is engineered to put the torque where it's needed most, delivering 90 percent at or below 2000 rpm. Multi-valve technology (3 valves per cylinder) allows the engine to breathe more freely, increasing horsepower. The 5.4L Triton® generates 310 horsepower and 365 lb.-ft of torque. All this awesome power is transmitted to the drive wheels by way of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Its wide 6-gear spread helps the engine generate lots of low-end torque (for tasks such as towing) and provide efficient operation in 6th gear overdrive on the highway.

Big Towing Capacity
Few vehicles rival a full-size SUV in its ability to tow a large boat or camper-trailer. The 5.4L Triton® V8's 310 horsepower and 365 lb./ft. of torque give the Expedition 4x2 regular-length model a maximum 9,200-lb. towing capacity when properly equipped with the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. (The Expedition EL has a maximum towing capacity of 8,900 pounds.) For family recreation, Expedition is pretty hard to beat.

Independent Rear Suspension
Ford Expedition delivers an exceptionally smooth ride. A big reason is the Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) that allows each wheel to respond independently to rough or uneven surfaces for a smooth and controlled ride.

ControlTrac 4x4 System
ControlTrac™, the standard system on the available Expedition 4x4, provides greater control in situations requiring added traction capability by dividing engine torque front-to-rear. Turning a rotary knob lets you (1) drive in high or low 4-wheel drive mode, (2) switch to 4x4 AUTO which automatically optimizes traction by transferring power to the appropriate wheels, or (3) shift into more economical 2-wheel drive.

Extended Length Model
The Expedition EL (Extended Length) provides all the versatility of the regular-length Expedition plus 24 additional cu. ft. of cargo volume behind the 3rd-row seat.* The EL can pack it all in so you can take more with you on your family adventures.
*Cargo and load capacity limited by weight and weight distribution.

Full Size Cargo Space
When you don't require all of Expedition's full-size seating comfort, you can make good use of all its full-size cargo-carrying capability. And that's the beauty of Expedition - its outstanding versatility. The regular-length Expedition model provides 18.6 cu. ft. behind the 3rd-row seat and up to 108.3 cu. ft. when both the 2nd- and 3rd-row seat backs are lowered. It gets obviously much better with the extended-length Expedition EL: 42.6 cu. ft. behind the 3rd row to 130.8 cu.ft. with the 2nd- and 3rd-row seat backs are lowered. And if you fill up all that space, there's a roof rack with crossbars up top to carry even more.
